Sammiches!

I don't know how I could have lived here for almost 10 years and have just now tried Paseo (on Fremont Ave between 42nd and 43rd). OH MY GOODNESS! So good! I'm a sandwich fan so these cuban sandwiches were amazing. Actually, the sandwiches were so good that I didn't even get one (they were out by 6:30pm last night). We got what we would had in a sandwich as a platter instead (grilled pork and roasted pork shoulder) and it was soooooooo good! I could only imagine how good it would have been in a sandwich. While we were eating we talked about our favorite sandwich shops and where we would go if we did a sandwich tour. Here's our picks (and my recommended sammich) in no particular order:

Honey Hole (waverider or chachi)
Thanh Vi (charbroiled pork or chicken)
Philly Cheesesteak (the one on 23rd and Union - the cheesesteak, of course!)
Tat's (tatstrami)
Fish fry stand in Pike's Place by the flowers and you can sit at the counter around the kitchen (blackened catfish)
Subs on the Ave (anything with the sweet dark rye)
Aladdin's Gyrocery on the Ave (spanikopita pita)
Salumi (can't remember what I had, but it was good!)
Baguette Box (drunken chicken or house cured salmon lox)
Saigon Deli and Buu Dien (banh mi - standard coldcuts or nem nuong)
Sheila's in Uwajimaya food court (spicy korean pork)

Did I miss anything? What's your favorite sammich spot?

Smarty Pants, in Georgetown, of course. They make outstanding sammies.

And, Hopvine on 15th has some good ones, too. Try their rueben. Yum.
