Canton Wonton House

After finishing, yet another, delicious bowl of wonton noodle soup tonight I thought to myself "why don't more people know about this place?" So here I am letting ya'll know if you didn't already. Canton Wonton is sooooooooooo good, not to mention incredibly cheap ($13 for two of us with chinese donuts and sodas). It's always packed for lunch during the week (I used to work down the street) and it's generally dead at night so don't let the lack of people scare you if it's not bustling.

If you've never had wonton soup before there's a couple things to know. Definitely add some chinese red vinegar and some sweet chili paste (they're both on the table) to the broth. You should also order chinese donut, which isn't really a donut, but more of a savory, deepfried spongy dough that is sliced into bite size pieces - hard to describe so here's a picture: farm1.static.flickr.com/27/989...0b5.jpg You then dip the chinese donut in the wonton soup, letting it soak up the yummy broth, and then eat it! YUM!!!! Every person I've taken there is at first apprehensive (it's a bit of a dive, but not dirty - just incredibly stripped down and bare), but then they have some of the soup and they're sold!

Canton Wonton House: 608 S Weller St - across the street/kitty corner to Uwajimaya in the ID.
