La Isla - Puerto Rican food

Yum! We just had lunch there (it's in Ballard, on Market St where the Australian pot pie place used to be). Delish! Although I think we overdid it on the fried foods. I haven't had good fried plantains since visiting Costa Rica so I was very happy that there was a sampler plate with 3 different kinds - the garlic lime "mojito" dip was very good too. The cod fish cakes were good, but too rich for me. It tasted like the batter for fish and chips, but there was no fish inside (the cod is shredded and mixed into the batter). Next time I'll try an entree, like the two small pork chops grilled in adobo. It sounded good, but I was craving something fatty and deep fried, which I now regret (I'm too full and feeling the greasiness in my head and stomach). I liked the shredded pork in the empanadillas, but I wasn't impressed by the flaky crust.

Anyone else eaten there? Is it authentic? I've never been to Puerto Rico so I can't say, but it was definitely tasty. I wish I knew ahead of time about the happy hour - it looks like the best deal. $2 on almost all the appetizers, which start at $4 normally.
